Battalion is the beautiful new art and design shop by gallery Andenken, in the Jordaan in Amsterdam. In the exhibition Dosage I’ll show a big amount of drawings, recent ones as well as older work with color, that I made back in 2005 and 2006.  Alongside some of Battalion’s own wannahaves, Alexandra Feo will show her photography work about Amsterdam. And I’ll make ginger snaps for the opening!

The work will be at Battalion until June 3. Open Wednesday through Sunday from 11:00 to 18:00 (19:00 on Sundays).

This new, fully drawn paper about Amsterdam East is made by ten local leading artists, brough together by the lovely Miss Maia Matches. For Orient X Press I made my first comic, ‘de Kikkerman’ – a dreamy portrait of two gentle ‘Amsterdammers’ who take care of the frogs that live in a local courtyard.

The launch party is on may 11 at 21.00 uur in Studio K in Amsterdam. The entrance is free, just as the paper itself. There will be live music and live drawing sessions!

The comic paper will be accompanied by a traveling exhibition that will be installed on several locations in Amsterdam – feel free to send me an email for more information.

On saturday march 31st the fourth edition of the KunstStripBeurs (Art & comic fair) will take place in the Janskerk in Utrecht – during, and in cooperation with the Holland Animation Film Festival.

A new tradition has been created within the Dutch Art World! It was in close cooperation with Gemeentemuseum Den Haag (The Hague) that the Artworlds Foundation introduced Summer Expo 2011 this year. Following the Summer Exhibition of the Royal Academy in London and the Canvas Collection in Belgium, the Netherlands too now have their very own summer exposition, which will come about by means of open registration.

Each distinct work had to speak for itself – only its expressiveness and quality counted, since neither backgrounds nor artists responsible were mentioned during the selection. From an enormous amount of works, 250 were selected for a unique survey exhibition at Gemeentemuseum Den Haag – of which the drawing on the left.

It was purchased by Direct Art Collection Direct Art Collection, a young art collection with a.o. also work by Rineke Dijkstra, Kiki Lamers, Sol Lewitt en Philip Akkerman.
